Topaz Adjust AI Released!

Joining Topaz Labs’ line-up of AI-powered photo editing applications, Adjust AI helps users achieve brilliant photo contrast, clarity, detail, and color through artificial intelligence.

Topaz Labs released today a major new product to its AI-powered photo editing offerings, introducing Adjust AI. This new application is available as a standalone solution, as well as a plugin for Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom, and Topaz Studio.

After months of training and testing, Adjust AI leverages machine learning to analyze and transform ordinary photos into lively, vivacious images that would normally require time-consuming, manual adjustments. Adjust AI is the fastest way to achieve ultimate clarity, detail, contrast, and an eye-catching aesthetic with minimal user input.

Application Details

With Adjust AI, users can:

  • Utilize two AI-powered modes (Standard and HDR Style buttons in the right panel) to automatically bring out colors, shadows, details, and more to make photos as vivid as intended–all in one click.
  • Utilize advanced shadow & highlight recovery that reveals lost detail.
  • Utilize Topaz Clarity’s intelligent, proprietary technology to manipulate macro, midrange, and overall contrast without halos or noise, all while maintaining a natural feeling and tonality in your image.
  • Move Topaz Detail sliders to independently adjust small, medium, and large amounts of detail inside the shadows and highlights of your image.
  • Apply new & modern presets for versatile effects.
  • Create and save custom presets for a faster workflow.

Adjust AI caters to professionals and enthusiasts alike. Users can utilize the output of the AI to speed up workflow as well as take advantage of a range of new, modern presets. Adjust AI also includes the ability to create and save your own variations in order to create presets bespoke to you.

“With Adjust AI, we hope our users will be impressed by the versatility and depth of the effects possible with this single application,” said Albert Yang, CTO of Topaz Labs. “In our first development meeting for Adjust AI, our mission was clear: Let’s develop an intelligent application to take photos from dull to dynamic in less than 10 clicks. We wanted to create a solution that offers stunning image enhancement, but doesn’t consume all of the user’s time. Adjust AI harnesses really powerful AI processing, but also allows for light, masterful finishing touches, so you can truly transform a lackluster image into an eye-catching photo that doesn’t look over-processed.”

Recommended Workflow

To achieve the best results with Adjust AI, Topaz Labs recommends the following workflow:

1. Import photo. Use JPEG to RAW AI to restore RAW editing capabilities if needed.

2. Apply noise reduction with DeNoise AI.

3. Make any composition, cropping, or straightening adjustments desired in Topaz Studio.

4. Apply Adjust AI and make any further tweaks.

Adjust AI Pricing and Availability

Adjust AI is available now for an introductory price of $59.99 until July 8, 2019. Following July 8, Adjust AI will be available for $79.99.

Users owning the original Topaz Adjust, Topaz Clarity and/or Detail will receive a complimentary copy of Adjust AI.

Adjust AI is also a part of the Topaz AI Bundle, which includes Sharpen AI, Gigapixel AI, DeNoise AI, and JPEG to RAW AI. New Topaz Release Unveiled!

Introducing JPEG to RAW AI

Edit JPEG as if you shot it in RAW.

Use machine learning to convert JPEG to high-quality RAW for better editing. Prevent banding, remove compression artifacts, recover detail, and enhance dynamic range.

Fix artifacts, restore dynamic range, and recover detail

JPEG to RAW AI is highly effective at removing compression artifacts and recovering color detail. Note the additional fine detail in the top right and bottom of the image.

There’s also enhanced dynamic range as shown by deeper shadows and enhanced highlights.

Great for those older digital images shot in JPEG on a smaller megapixel camera – like this one that I took from my old Canon 20D shot in JPEG. I re-edited with JPEG to RAW and was able to pull more detail and better color.

Original edit from an 8mpx JPEG file.

Edited with JPEG to RAW then re-processed. Better color, less noise, more detail.

Special Release Pricing!

Regular $99.99 – Release Sale pricing of $79.99 until Feb. 8th! (You can download a free trial.)

Jan. 13 – Sunday Sampler

This week’s Sunday Sampler are some “grassy” shots to make us thing of Spring! The original image was taken in Savannah, GA, as we walked around Fort Pulaski. I suppose it could have been taken anywhere, but this was where I happened to take this shot! I modified it three ways in Topaz Impression. These will make great backdrops to other images. Enjoy!

Thank you to everyone who watched my Topaz webinar on Tuesday. I appreciate the kind words through email and Facebook. If you missed the webinar, the recording is posted on the Topaz YouTube channel HERE. You can also find it on the TopazLabs.com site under the “Learn” tab > Webinars. Just scroll down to the recordings.

And, if you’d like my notes from the webinar PLUS all the images I used, PLUS some bonus textures, you can find them for just $5 in the Peacock Studio store HERE.

Topaz also has a 20% discount code for the webinar – hazelweb14 – good until midnight tomorrow, Monday, on anything in the Topaz store. I also have a code on my eBooks and textures (also in the Peacock Studio) for 25% off until midnight Tuesday 1/15 EST.

We always have so many questions during a webinar that we can’t get to answer all of them, so I’ll be answering some here in the “Topaz Corner” over the next few weeks. If you have a question on Topaz that you’d like answered, email me at Hazel@MeredithImages.com and I will try to include it.

Q: In several of my projects I used a border texture rather than a regular vignette and someone asked why.

A: It’s truly a matter of personal preference, however, I often use the borders instead of a vignette if I want a more subtle edge-darkening. The borders also tend to be “irregular” shaped, and I often like that look.

Q: Do you always work in jpg when editing in Topaz?

A: No, usually I’m importing a RAW or tiff file. I use jpgs for the webinars because they are smaller and process faster.

Q: Where can I find more of Hazel’s work with tutorials and how long has she been working with layers and textures and creating such amazing works?

A: Thank you for your kind words! I’ve been working with textures and such for about 9 years. I’m not positive how I really started – I’m sure I saw something online or at a camera club and just started playing around! You can find more of my images on my website http://www.MeredithImages.com or on my Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/MeredithImages/

I’ll be answering a few more questions next week.

A few items I found this week:

From Light Stalking, “The Coolest Photography Links of the Week”.

Design Cuts has a FABULOUS Vintage Bundle (I’m going to be getting this one myself)! $1780 worth of delicious vintage goodies for just $29! Check it out HERE! Retro fonts, beautifully preserved illustrations, vintage papers, effects, textures and so much more!

Ending with some sad news…

Some of you may know Joe LeFevre, a fabulous photographer, gifted teacher and gentle, sweet man, who taught at many camera clubs and conferences around the country. Sadly, Joe passed away this week. He will be missed by so many in our photographic circle. Godspeed, dear Joe.

The Adirondack Photography Institute, where he taught many workshops, posted this on Facebook yesterday.

It is with deep sorrow that we relay the news of API instructor Joe LeFevre’s passing, on Thursday, January 10th. Joe was a beloved and gifted photographer, consummate teacher, public speaker, and our great friend. He was a devoted family man and a man of great faith. We will miss him dearly. Joe is survived by his immediate family, wife Linda, sons Robert and David, and daughter Joanna. We offer them our continued love and prayers.

As a photographer, Joe was renowned for his compositional skills, and for readily incorporating cutting-edge digital technologies in his imagery. He had a special affinity for creating panoramas, and shooting time-lapse sequences and video. He created instructional DVD’s on numerous photographic topics and a DVD showcasing the Adirondacks.

Joe also cherished sharing his love and knowledge of nature photography through workshops. We know he felt blessed by the many friendships he made through them, and the wonderful experiences shared. To all those he touched, our sincere condolences. One aspect of his enduring legacy will be that he not only made us better photographers, but better people.

We love you Joe.

TOPAZ NEWS – A.I. ReMix Updated TODAY!

Hi there!

I couldn’t wait until Sunday to share the news! Topaz released an update to A.I. ReMix this afternoon.

“The A.I. ReMix update is HERE! With additional styles, a new category system and speed improvements, A.I. ReMix is a great way to artistically reinvigorate your creative forces.

New Features include:
• 28 Newer High-Resolution Styles: With the latest update we’ve added 28 new styles to the application, bringing our styles total to 102!
• Massive Speed Increase on new styles: We’ve increased the speed of these new styles using the latest GPU implementation of our engine
• New Style Categories: A.I. Clear now provides a way to sort styles to make them easier to find (see screenshot below):

AI ReMix is one of the first desktop applications that uses the power of Artificial Intelligence to transform your image’s style to recreate contemporary and classic artistic styles with the click of a button. More than the typical use of AI, it’s the first of Topaz Studio’s ‘Artistic Intelligence’ adjustments.

Use AI ReMix to quickly change the direction a piece of art is headed. Don’t like the color palette or the overall style of your image? Apply one dose of AI ReMix, and the possibilities will start opening up again. AI ReMix will quickly match shadows, highlights, and various feature sizes in your image with the data contained in our Artistic Intelligence models, and transfer the style in our model to your image.”

Here are a couple I just did:

ORIGINAL IMAGE:

AI Remix – Ink Blot preset:

Added a 2nd preset – Coal Relic:

Definitely a different take on the original image!

If you don’t have A.I. ReMix yet, click HERE and then save 15% with the code MeredithImages (regular price is $69.99). A.I. ReMix is a Pro Adjustment in Studio.

If you already own A.I. ReMix, the update is free! Just open Studio – you will get a pop-up asking if you want to load the update! You will then be on Studio Version 1.13.0 and have the latest updates. If, for some reason you don’t get the pop-up, just click on Help on the top toolbar of Studio, and then click Check for Software Updates.

Nov. 4 – Sunday Sampler

Happy Sunday and a warm welcome to all of the new subscribers! Thank you for watching my Topaz webinar this past week. It was fun doing some Halloween-themed images! We had lots of great questions as well. I printed out the chat so I can answer more of the questions here in the Topaz Corner (see below). We try to cover a LOT of information during the webinars – I know for some people it seemed to go too fast – but that’s why they record the webinars so you can go back and watch again!

The “edited” webinar is not posted yet, but you can get to the unedited copy by clicking HERE. And if you haven’t gotten them yet, I have the notes for this webinar for sale in my online store for just $5! This gives you all of the images that I worked on during the webinar, the notes with the settings that I used, AND a bonus set of textures (these textures are not available anywhere else – they will be part of some upcoming sets in the store). Click HERE to go to the web store and then select “Topaz Notes” (the notes for my last webinar are also still available).

This week’s Sunday Sampler started with a shot of tree bark that I took on my jaunt this week to Southford Falls State Park in Southford, CT. I then did a couple of variations using AI ReMix in Studio.

The recent rains and pretty fall color made for some nice images:

After editing these leaves, I added a preset in Topaz Studio to give them some added “punch”.

I’ve been totally amazed with the quality of AI Clear. It really makes my images look great! I did mask it off of the water a little so that they wouldn’t be overly sharp.

NEW WEBINAR NOTE!

If you’d like to see some more of “What’s New with Topaz Labs”, I will be doing a webinar tonight at 7:00 pm Eastern Time, for NPEG (the National Photography Enthusiasts Group). They have allowed me to open up registration to you as well! Click HERE to sign up! I’ll be covering Topaz Studio and some of the Pro Adjustments that have been added since the Summer when I did my last webinar for them.

So as I mentioned above, I printed the chat log from Tuesday’s webinar so that I could answer questions we couldn’t get to during the presentation. I love reading all the “hello’s” when people log on and seeing where everyone is from (all over the world!).

A couple questions from the first project, the “haunted” house and graffiti overlay.

Q. How did she unlock the ratio?

A. After adding the 2nd image layer, you will see a “Lock Aspect Ratio  Yes  No” under the image – click on NO and you will be able to resize the image without maintaining the original aspect (see screen shot below)

Q. Where did she get the clip art? Where did she get the lightning?

A. The graffiti shot I used was from Layer Cake’s “Epic Location Sets” (Urban Chic set) and the lightning was from their Studio Magic plug-in program.

I recently did a webinar for them utilizing these new Location Sets. They are also the makers of Studio Magic, an awesome plug-in to Photoshop (I have done a webinar on this as well). You can save 90% and get Studio Magic, free sky overlays and the 1200 Epic Location Sets for just $125 HERE. Or just the 1200 Location Sets and Skies for $99 HERE.

The other clip art I showed (spider web, pumpkin, ghost), I downloaded from Brusheezy.com. They have TONS of free brushes, clip art and more (also Vecteezy.com for graphics).

Also watch the blog for “Around the Web” links to other great resources.

Q. How do I import textures into Studio?

A. I put together a tutorial sheet on how to do this with screen shots. Click – How to Add Textures to get the pdf file!

Q. How did she get two different textures to apply? When I do that, the second will override the first!

A. Once you have applied your first texture, you need to then click on Adjustment again and select texture to open a 2nd dialogue box and add a 2nd texture without deleting the first one. So you’re pallette will look like this:

I will answer some more questions next week!

Sept. 9 – Sunday Sampler

Happy Sunday! FINALLY feeling a little like Autumn today!

For today’s Sunday Sampler, I took an ordinary image of some Sedona Red Rock gravel, and modified it 3 ways in Topaz. An example of how you can take a texture and create MANY other textures from that one image. You can also change the color palette, blur it more, etc. Enjoy!

Aug. 16 – New Topaz Product! + Sunday Sampler

Introducing A.I. Gigapixel

Topaz A.I. Gigapixel is a standalone application only (it does not work as a plugin or Topaz Studio adjustment) made for batch resizing your images. It uses the power of Topaz’s proprietary Artistic Intelligence engine to make sharper and clearer upscaled images than traditional upscaling tools.

A.I. GigaPixel is the first desktop application to use the power of Deep Neural Networks to realistically enlarge your images, up to 6x. Traditional up-scale methods use “interpolation” (bi-cubic, Lanczos, fractal, etc.) to create higher resolution images.
These traditional methods produce images that are blurry, unrealistically painterly, and lack the details that are present in real high-resolution images.

The unsurpassed quality of A.I. Gigapixel can enlarge full-size Raw images to over a gigapixel in size. it can also enlarge thumbnail images to create full-size versions that are practically identical to original high-resolution photos. Can you tell which image is the original and which was upscaled from a thumbnail?

We scaled the original image down to 16% of its original size then used A.I. Gigapixel to enlarge that thumbnail 600%

This is the eye from the thumbnail.

This is the output from A.I. Gigapixel on the left, and the original full-size image on the right when zoomed to 150%.

I had a chance to try out the program myself – VERY cool! I took an image that I had sized as a small jpeg (4″x6″) for a Facebook post, then blew it up 600% (24″x36″) – WOW! Have a look:

Original 4″ x 6″:

Cropped in area of 24″ x 36″:

This is WAY better than any other resizing program available!

Topaz A.I. Gigapixel is available as a standalone batch processing application only. It is compatible with 64-bit Windows 7+ and Mac OS X 10.11+. It also requires a GPU with OpenGL 3.3 or later (Intel HD5000 or better, Nvidia GTX 760 or better, AMD R9 280 or better. You can take advantage of a free 30-day trial with A.I. Gigapixel, through the main application when you download.

A.I. Gigapixel™ is available for $99.99. AND you can save 15% with my code: MeredithImages at checkout.

Topaz Studio — Digital Frames are Here!

In my last webinar I did a demo from the Beta Version of Topaz Studio showing the upcoming Digital Frames.

The new Digital Frames adjustment in Topaz Studio lets me add a custom mat and frame to an image quickly and easily. Not only can you utilize the textures built in to Studio, but you can add your own textures making for endless mat and frame combinations. This is a nice way to display an image on social media and make it stand out from the crowd

I tried the updated version last night and created these:
